1. How to Get Started
On your dashboard, click Create Tour to begin building your custom virtual tour.
You will be directed to another page to select the tour you want to create.
Select “Create Custom Tour”
Next, it will ask you what kind of custom tour (Google, or non-Google).
We will be adding the ability to build tours not on Google at a later date. For the time being, the only selection you can make is "Creating a custom tour from a Google Tour I published."
Next, it will ask you to select a client your Google tour is under.
Click in the search box, and a dropdown of all your clients will appear for you to select from. If you have many clients and know the client's name, you can start typing the name, and the dropdown will narrow based on clients that begin with what have typed in the field.
Once you make a selection, the next button will show up. Click Next.
Next, you can select a Google Tour to build a custom tour. Same as the previous step, click in the search box, and a list of tours for that client will appear for you to choose from.
2. Select a Custom Theme
The second step to creating your custom tour is selecting a theme. If you have a theme created already for this client, you can click the search bar on the right. Otherwise, add the logo you want and choose your background and icon colors by clicking on the box with the color, or entering the hex color.
After you have selected your colors, click "Create my tour." Don’t worry - you can always change the theme later.
After you have clicked the "Create my tour," our platform will create a tour for you to start. It will add thumbnails to the bottom carousel, which will be named after the island/level names you entered in the Google tour. It will also populate as many fields as possible from Google. An example is the map location.
3. How to Customize Your Tour
Once the tour has been created, you can now begin to customize the tour. Go to the Edit tab to do this.
The editable sections can be broken down into 3 sections.
- The top section in blue, which will be referred to as “Features"
- The right side navigation in orange, which will be referred to as “Menu items”
- The bottom navigation in green, which will be referred to as “Carousel"
In the features section, you will see:
- A save button to save your changes. It is always good practice to save periodically.
- A start button. This is very important as this will determine where your tour starts from. To use this function. Navigate to the 360 you want to start off with and hit this button. Typically we use the first button in the Carousel.
- Hot spots - You use hotspots to navigate to a 360 that you want to add hotspots to and click the button.
- Once you click the button, you can move the hotspot to where you want by clicking and dragging the image. Once the center blue is where you want the hot spot hit the set button. If you no longer want a hot spot click cancel.
- Now that you have added the hot spot, you can edit it by clicking on it. In this case, it would be the green box in the screenshot below. Once you click on the hotspot, it will bring up a menu on the right. You can change the hotspot type by clicking the type dropdown in the yellow box below. If you are unhappy with where the hot spot is, you can adjust it by changing the heading and pitch by clicking on the arrows next to the numbers in the heading and pitch. If you haven’t put anything in, you can always hit the delete button at the top of the menu and start over.
- Hotspot Types - there are different hotspots you can add.
- Info - with the info hotspot, you can enter a title, a still photo, and a description.
- Video - the video hotspot is similar to the info, except instead of adding in a still photo, you put in a YouTube URL of the video you would like to incorporate.
- URL - With the URL hot spot, you simply put the URL you want to link.
- Audio - The audio hotspot allows you to upload audio in MP3 and OGG format.
- Elevator up and down - The elevator hotspot simply allows you to link to another 360. You will need to enter the PANOID to do this.
- How do you get a PANOID?
- The easiest way is to navigate to a 360 you want to link in the custom builder and click the copy PanoID link on the image.
- Another way to paste the Google Maps URL of a 360 in this tool is https://login.tourbuilder.com/#/tour/panoid/from/maps/url
